ERCHA/NRCHA SPRING STAKES

 

The last day of competition is held at European Reined Cow Horse Association Spring Stakes. In the morning some championship classes are done followed by two big Special Event.

Filippo Masi Novice Riders

 

After posting a total of 138 (67/71) young Italian rider Elena Ferrari took the first place honours in both Filippo Masi Novice Riders class and Regional division. Elena rode her Stars Player, 10-year-old gelding sired by Lenas Starfish and out of Kit Dual. “I can did better in the rein work but I’m happy with the cow work part and for sure got 3 trophies in 2 days and 4 years far from competitions is not bad at all!”

Reserve Champion title went to Marco Giacone and 5-year-old mare Lizzie Little Power (Smart Easy Deal x To Much Powered) from Italy with a 137.5 (68/69.5). Sebastian Gorni and Epic Rush, ten-year-old gelding sired by Big Chex To Cash and out of Little Rush are Reserve Champions on the Regional division with a 135.5 score (67.5/68).

 

Two Rein

 

Swiss rider Christoph Seiler and Chics Smart Colonel, (9-year-old gelding, Mr Colonel Smart x Chics Olena Baby took the lead in the Open Two Reins class after posting a 143 (70.5/72.5). “I bred him and I won the Futurity on him. This is our first show together after 3 years and I cannot be more happy!”

On second place there was a tie with a 135.5 score between Italian professional Andrea Santini on ANS Mokie Vaquero (5-year-old stallion, ANS Mokie Cat x Junes Little CD) and German rider Sabine Brasche with Bet Hesa Wildcat (6-year-old gelding, Bet Hesa Cat x Lil Peptorella) between the reins. “I made a big mistake in the rein work and I thought was all done, so I was happy we saved the win with the cow.

Sabine Brasche is followed by Sylvia Bate and First Cats Got Luck, 6-year-old mare sired by Cats Got Freckles and out of Latex Glo. This horse and rider combination took also the lead in the Non Pro Two Rein Regional with a score of 134.5 (66.5/68).

 

Box Drive

 

From Spain is the 1st stage championship Box Drive Champion. Raimundo Segura presented ANS Mokie Vaquero and marked a 128.5 (67/61.5). “This is our first show together and I think he is a very talented horse. We need to fix stops and back in the reining, with the cow he is nice and for sure we will do better in the future.”

Romana Kaiser and her Smartin Chic (Mr Colonel Smart x Chics Classic Yana) are Reserve Champions with a 124.5 (64.5/60).

 

Bridle Spectacular Non Pro

 

After 3 emotional events here in Palacittà Travagliato (BS) Italy, European Reined Cow Horse Association crowed first ERCHA/NRCHA Non Pro Bridle Champion of the season, from Germany Sabine Brasche and her 6-year-old Bet Hesa Wildcat. The sorrel gelding total score was a 210 (68/70.5/71.5). “I can only say that I’m happy, it was a long week that couldn’t finish better!” Sabine brings to the awards presentation also her Lil Peptorella, Bet Hesa Wildcat 19-year-old mum to celebrate her progenie.

And in second position of Non Pro Bridle Spectacular, from Sweden Magnus Gustafsson placed his Metallics Journey (8-year-old, gelding, Metallic Cat x Smart Littlechet), on the second step of the podium of the Non Pro Bridle Spectacular with a 209 (67/68.5/73.5). For the Swedish rider it took 2 days to come in Italy  but a big 73.5 in the cow work for sure make him happy!

Bridle Spectacular Open

 

Both Italian professional riders Samuele Poli Barberis and Alessandro Coppari got a 214 total score. Samuele Poli rode Cats Got Freckles (WR This Cats Smart x Playboys Girl), a 13-year-old chestnut stallion owned by Luca Terzi and got highest cow work score (72/69.5/72.5) to Champion honours. “From the first day I felt Cats Got Freckles really good, we are not able to express ourselves in the rein work. At that point I thought that I have to do a nice cow work. I tryed to attack more and he followed me as he has a big heart, a big talent and a big cow sense also and we are able to win. I cannot thanks him enough.”

Alessandro Coppari riding Thaz Boy (15-year-old, gelding, ARC Tora Tora x Snap And Twist) is Reserve Champion in the Bridle Spectacular Open with a total of 214 points (71/73/70).

 

Spring Stakes Boxing

 

Eleonora Terzi and her 5-year-old Quarter Horse mare SR Bossin Cats (Cats Got Freckles x Bossin Ann) bring home Champion title in the Spring Stakes Boxing class but also Reserve Champion honours in the Non Pro division, their total in the boxing is 207.5 (70/66.5/71) while in the Non Pro they finish with a 206 (70/66.5/69.5). “This is my first special event with cow work, and I’m happy for sure with my special mare. Bossin Cats is an homebred horse with a lot of cow sense, really incredible. I will show her at the ERCHA Derby and I want to thank you all Samisa Ranch staff and my father who is always by my side.

Marco Pulerà on his 4-year-old mare DG Vega Dollie Rey (Roany x Madame Dollie) is Reserve Champions in this division thanks to the total score of 205 (68.5/66.5/70)

Spring Stakes Non Pro and Level 1 Non Pro

 

From Italy Edoardo Ferro and his 5-year-old mare Sperk Aristocrat MR (Tassas Aristocrat x A Vintage Chic) are Spring Stakes Non Pro 2023 Champions. This pair marked a 71 in the herd work and a 71 also in the rein work to finish with a 68 in the cow work, for a total score of 210. “My horse has a really big heart, this time the rein work was pretty good. And I’m happy with this results.

Spring Stakes Open and Level 1 Open

 

Young professional Italian rider Sara Casalini after posting a 76 in the cow work final event brings home Spring Stakes Open and Level 1 Open Champion titles. Total score for Gunner On Line is a 222 (72/74/76). The 5-year-old gelding sired by Shine On Line and out of Shyawhiz is owned by Giovanni Conti. “I know that I can mark high with him but I didn’t expect at all. He is with me all the times, I know that I can loose rein and give him trust. Gunner On Line is like my best friend, from the beginning we had a special feeling together.” Sara commented after the awards presentation.

Pietro Tuberga placed Katrina Hope Olena (Oaks Lone Pepto x Haida Oleana) for owner Domenico Sapino on the second step of the podium of the Spring Stakes Open, with a total of 213.5 (71/71/71.5).
