The 2011 Ercha/Nrcha Futurity took place once again in Augsburg, Germany, during the marvellous western fair of Americana, one of Europe’s premier western event. The show took place from the 31st of August, till the end of the the fair, on Sunday 4th September.

In the Ercha competitions, there were about 60 entries in the Working Cow classes plus 19 in the Cow Horse Futurity.

There were 17 entries in the Ercha Open Futurity 2011, 11 of which riding also in the Limited Open Futurity class; unfortunately, there were only 2 riders in the Non Pro class, running also for the Limited Non Pro Futurity title.

In the Open Futurity, only 10 riders gained their access to the finals, while the champions in the Limited Open class  were determined by the scores of the Go round.

German rider Jorg Pasternak and his 4-year-old American Quarter Horse gelding Dirty Harry JP not only took the championship in the Limited Open class, after the Go round, but also won the Ercha Open Futurity Championship, after the final. The horse, is bred and owned by  Hans Pasternak.

The pair scored a composite of 421, during the Go round, placing second in the Open ranking before the finals, with the second best score, and winning the Limited Open Championship.  The two performerd a brilliant rein work, with long deep stops and incredibly fast turns which led to 145. During the finals, the pair was second after Herd and Reined Work and scored a fantastic 150 in the Fencework. This was a total of 434.5 which meant first place, with 10 points ahead of the second placed  Philipp Martin Haug with Just Colonic Art (Linas Little Fury, by Smart Little Lena x Just A Wininic). The 3-year-old stallion had been leading after the Reined and Herd Work, but had a hard time with a difficult cow, which resulted in a score of 139, for the fence work, for a  total composite of  424,5. Haug had ridden three horses in the final and also placed 3rd astride Mecoms Way (by Mecom Blue x Wr Wichita Belle) with a total score of 421.5, after receiving the second best score in fence work (146). The multiple Ercha Futurity Champion Markus Schöpfer and  Shinetta Please (Chic Please x Sheza Shinetta), who had been leading the Open Go Round with score 423 (tying with Haug and Mecoms Way) placed fourth (416,5) , while Samuele Poli and the 4-year old mare Starlit Flame placed fifth with score 415.

Jörg Pasternak has been one of the most successful cutting trainers for years – we remember Annies Blue Boy, with which he was NCHA and DQHA Futurity Champion in Cutting. Now, he seems to be back in the Cow Horse Also, with this marvelous double title at the Ercha Futurity 2011.

In the Limited Open ranking, Patrick Sattler and his 4 year old bay stallion, Tivios Prize (by Smokums Prize), placed second, after the Go roung, claiming the Reserve Championship with score 400. In the Open finals, they placed 6th, with score 404. Swiss trainer Christoph Seiler placed 3rd in the Limited Open Futurity, riding Ready Little Steady (by Smart Little Steady), the 3 year-old stallion, that won the special prize for the best 3 year old horse at the 2011 Ercha/Nrcha Prefuturity Open. Italian rider Giacomo Poli placed 4th, by scoring 392,5, astride the 4 year-old bay stallion Ima Snoop Olena (Ima Snooper Too x Blue Foxy Baby), owned by Marco Giannini, while austrian rider Gerold Dautzemberg was 5th, astride his stallion  I Whiz A Shiney Chic (score 390.5).

The decision in the European Reined Cow Horse Futurity Non Pro and Limited Non Pro was made between two riders only: Gerold Dautzenberg riding I Whiz A Shiney Chic (by Smart Chic Olena x Ebony Shines) and René Wicki riding Ima Tips Olena (Ima Docs Tipster x Lectric Hick Chic -AQHA) . Gerold Dautzenberg was leading since the beginning,  with René Wicki and his 3 years-old Appaloosa mare following. But the pair had bad luck in Reined Work, resulting in a zero score. Therefore, Gerold Dautzenberg and I Whiz A Shiney Chic won both the Limited Non Pro and Non Pro Championship with a composite score of 390.5, while René Wicki and Ima Tips Olena were Reserve in both classes.
