ERCHA DERBY 2016: a great show for ERCHA

Giovanni Campanaro took the lead in the Derby Open

The second limited aged event of the European Reined Cow Horse Association was held in Cremona – Italy from 18th to 22th March 2016. A great number of horses is judged by the international judge Maik Bartmann from Germany with Manuela Maiocchi as scribe. A great number of athletes showed his great horses on this edition of ERCHA Derby.

The young professional Giovanni Campanaro from Italy riding Andrea Sanfelici’s RH Tremor In Style (More Than Stylish x Marriah Diamond), took the lead in the Derby Open with a total score of 289.5 (73 herd/71.5 rein/70 cow/75 cow final). The pair was third in the Open division after the go round  and this is a very good show for they: “my horse is always very good, especially in the cow work where he is happy to control every cow!”. On the second step of the podium we find again Giovanni Campanaro who placed Giovanni Lagaren’s Silver Smooth Boogie, a 4-years-old mare by Boogie Boon and out of Smoothies Smart Cat by Smooth As A Cat. The total of the pair is a 289 (72 herd/71 rein/73.5 cow/72.5 cow final).

The Limited Open division is dominated by the German professional Philipp Martin Haug with Frank Kunkel’s Snapper Lil Bingo (Peptos Lil Bingo x Snappers Victoria) between the reins. The composite score of the pair is a 212.5 (70 herd/69.5 rein/73 cow). 210.5 is the total of the Reserve Champion that was Andrea Sanfelici with his Ret Great N San (69 herd/70.5 rein/71 cow).

In the Non Pro division the winner is Alessio Fraboschi with his LF Doublelena (Double R Chant x Kart O Lena) between the reins. The total is a good 283 (68 herd/70.5 rein/72 cow/72.5 cow final). “This is a great return for me in this beautiful discipline! I know that I have a good horse but I don’t really expect to win!” commented the Italian rider after the awards ceremony. Reserve Champion titles in this division went to Mattia Maurizi and his Bar Smart Tora Lena (ARC Tora Tora x Resketta) with a total of 277 point behind the winner (67 herd/71 rein/69.5 cow/69.5 cow final).

Talk Italian Again the Novice Amateur division of the Derby, Alessandro Tugnoli and his Star Sky Diamond (Stargate Dancer x Micamale Bonita) took the lead with a score of 280.5 (71 herd/67 rein/70.5 boxing/72 boxing final). “I had the help of Giovanni Campanaro on this show! All worked very well and finally we got another title! I’m very happy.” On the second step of the podium we find Shirley Schalcher and Big And Sweet BB (Big Chex To Cash x Sweet Lil Diamond BB) with a 278.5 (68.5 herd/70.5 rein/68.5 boxing/71 boxing final).

In the Limited Non Pro division the winner was again Alessio Fraboshi and LF Doublelena with a total of 210.5 (68 herd/70.5 rein/72 cow). Reserve Champion title honors went to Shirley Schalcher and her Big And Sweet BB with a composite score of 207 (68.5 herd/70.5 rein/68 cow).

The second stage of the ERCHA/NRCHA 2016 championship

Fabio Fossa and Cobra Tarissurprise, 5-years-old stallion owned by Paolo Stanghellini won the Novice Horse Open class with a 134.5 (63.5 rein/71 cow). Fabio Fossa and Ledy Quinn Canadas were also Reserve Champions in this division with a score of 121. In the Novice Horse Non Pro division the winner is Andrea Ambrogiani who showed his GF Shine For Me (Slide Me To The Bar x Docs Ginger Hickory) with a total of 135 (69.5 rein/65.5 cow). Andrea and his 16-years-old gelding took the lead also in the Two Rein Non Pro.

In the Two Rein Open, the fist NRCHA approved class, Markus Schopfer riding Spat Sailor Lena (Spat Olena x Heidi Sailor) owned by Jeannette Krahenbuhl won with 143 points (72 rein/71 cow). Reserve Champions honors went to Michele Masi with Camilla Doneda’s Dungerus (ARC Tora Tora x Sheza Dun Smokin). 141.5 his total (71.5 rein/70 cow).

Always Markus Schopfer at the top of the Open Hackamore but this time with Dual Chic SQVR between the reins. Their total is a 144.5 (71.5 rein/73 cow).

The Open Bridle class was also the second step for the qualification of the Italy for the Nations Cup, and the winner this time is again Giovanni Campanaro with the great sorrel mare Smart Speedy (Smart Easy Deal x OT Boompeep) owned by Giovanni Lagaren. The total score is a 142.5 (71 rein/71.5 cow). On the second place of the Open we can find Markus Schopfer with Spat Sailor Lena with the score of 141 (69 rein/72 cow). In the Limited Open Bridle the Champion was Stefano Chiari riding his Buenomax (Buenonic Chex x Pidgeon Poo) and the score of 137 (67.5 rein/69.5 cow). Reserve champion title in the Limited Open is for Andrea Santini and the stallion Ans Wyatt Pep (ARC Play With Prises x Miss Senorita Peppy) with a 136 (67 rein/69 cow).

The Youth Novice Riders winner is the young and scrappy Elena Ferrari with Cuttin Memphis (ARC Tora Tora x ARC Cuttin Honey) between the reins, thanks to their total of 139.5 (68.5 rein/71 cow). Matteo Ambrosini with Girls Got Duals (Dual Spark x Zans Diamond Sun) are Reserve Champions in the Youth division.

In the Novice Riders the winner is Camilla Massa with Chico Believer (Chic Olena Partee x Miss Glo San) a great grey gelding that made happy is rider with a total of 140.5 (70 rein/70.5 boxing). Second place honors went again to Elena Ferrari and Cuttin Memphis. In the regional division of this class the winner was ARC Dualin Surprise (Dualin For Me x ARC Ms Lena Surprise) with Silvia Manfredi in saddle, the pair marked a total of 139 (71 rein/68 boxing).

The Non Pro Limited Bridle class is always populated. And this time the winner is Eliane Gfellers with her Walla Dundee Whiz, a direct son of the great Walla Walla Whiz, between the reins and the score of 143 (70.5 rein/72.5 cow). Elena Ferrari and Cuttin Memphis placed second. In the regional division the best rider was Cleo Pugnetti with Shes Smart And Sexy and the score of 142 (70 rein/72 cow).

Title of Non Pro Bridle Champion for Peter Kun and Smart Blackbird (Smart Little Lena x Badge Of Courage). Their total score is a 137 (66 rein/71 cow). Martina Grassi placed second on Frozen Peppys Lena (Frozen Sailor x Peppys Lena Doc) with 133 points (68.5 rein/64.5 cow).

The winner of the Open Hackamore is Markus Schopfer with Caroline Baudinger’s Surley A Peptocat (Surely A Pepto x Son Miss Buffy) with a score of 141.5 (70.5 rein/71 cow). Markus is also on the second step of the podium with his Dual Chic SQVR (Mister Dual Pep x A Vintage Chic). 135 their total (67 rein/68 cow).

The appointment with the next show of the European Reined Cow Horse Association will be the Hackamore Classic on June in Poland. Stay tuned!
