Giovanni Campanaro wins ERCHA Derby 2014 Open and Limited Open on Smart Speedy.
The European Reined Cow Horse Association’s second limited aged event of the season, took place at Salone del Cavallo Americano in Reggio Emilia from 14th to 18th may 2014. The show is open to 4 and 5-years-old horses, showed in snaffle bit. There were 25 competitors in the Ercha Derby, which was judged by Maik Bartmann e Brad Kelsall, with scribes Vera Eliani and Carol Telford. 18 open entries, 7 non pro, 5 limited non pro contestant, and finally the limited open had 13 competitors.

Giovanni Campanaro and Smart Speedy (Smart Easy Deal x OT Boompeep) won ERCHA Derby 2014. The nice sorrel mare, proved to be extremely talented and efficient, especially in the fence work.

Campanaro, who trains at his place, near Turin, had a winning day, and gained the title in the open and limited open after scoring 147,5 in the herd work, the pair continued with a 147,5 in the rein work, and a good 152,5 in the fence work, for a 447,5 composite. “She’s a very good athlete” claimed Giovanni after the awards ceremony. “She’s very good minded and finally he has the opportunity to show the best his capability”. Born in Italy, the 4 years-old mare is owned by Vittorio Rabboni.

Samuele Poli took the second place in this ERCHA Derby Open 2014, with the beautiful stallion Highbrown Fletch owned by Alessia Campi. The 5-years-old sorrel stallion by Royal Fletch and out of Lil Sally Cat posted a composite of 441 (144,5 herd/146 rein/150,5 cow).

Adelmo Vannini and Cats Got Freckles, 4 years-old sorrel stallion by Wr This Cats Smart and out of Playboys Girl by Freckles Playboy, owned by himself gained the ERCHA Derby Limited Open Reserve and the Non Pro Champions titles with a score of 143 in the herd work, 144 in the rein work and a 144 down the fence for a composite 431. The rider was very happy about his winning, and thanks all the people who helped him. “I’m so happy about this! I have a great fun in this week, Cat Got Freckles is a fantastic horse!”

Reserve championship honors in the Non Pro class went to Sabine Brasche and Peptomoonsmal (Pepto Zone x Lil Peptorella). The pair scored a fantastic 141,5 in the herd word and a 141 in the rein work and finish with a 146 down the fence.

Limited Non Pro Derby Champion 2014 honors went to German rider Katharina Goetz astride her appaloosa mare Listos Lil Playgirl by scoring a 395,5 (134 herd/135,5 rein/129 cow). Katharina trained herself at her place in Germany.

Gerold Dautzenberg and Smoothie Cat (Smooth As A Cat x Little Smart Lakota) took the second place in the limited non pro Derby division with a score of 393 (138 herd/130 rein/125 cow).

Championship classes on Sunday 18th may 2014:
Markus Schopfer and Elans Painted Rooster for owner Jeannette Krahenbuhl won the Novice Horse Open class with a score of 137,5 (65,5 rein/72 cow).

Achim Goetz and One Of A Sign won the Limited Open Bridle and the Non Pro Bridle champion title. The scores: 143 (71 rein/72 cow) and 141 (70 rein/71 cow).

In the open bridle the winner is again Markus Schopfer this time riding Peptos Lil Bingo owned by Braam QH: 144 (71 rein/73 cow).

Smart Pepto and his rider Markus Schopfer won also the Open Hackamore class, after gained sixth place on Derby open division. The score was 141 (71 rein/70 cow).

Double title for Daniele Giacchè riding Itsgoodtobelucio in the Novice Riders and in the Novice Horse Non Pro: the score was 142 (71 rein/71 cow) and 139,5 (69,5 rein/70 cow).

Roman Hossmann with Menas Smart Girl won the Non Pro Limited Bridle class, with the score of 139 (68 rein/71 cow). And Romina Meazzi took the regional division of this class with Beautyfull Heart, their score was 138 (71 rein/67 cow).

Snapper Bar Solano with Daniele Francescato in saddle won the Two Reins Open Champion title: 143,5 (70,5 rein/73 cow).
