SPRING STAKES 2016: a great start for ERCHA

Giovanni Campanaro took the lead in the Spring Stakes Open

The first limited aged event of the European Reined Cow Horse Association was held in Travagliato (BS) Italy from 4th to 5th March 2016. A great number of horses is judged by the international judge Maik Bartmann from Germany with Otto De Fazio as scribe.

The young professional Giovanni Campanaro from Italy riding Tenuta Comba’s RH Hesa Pepto Diamond (took the lead in the Spring Stakes Open with a total score of 219.5 (73 herd/71.5 rein/75 cow). The pair was already ERCHA 2015 Futurity Open Champion and this is a very good show for they: “my horse is always very good, especially in the cow work where he is happy to control every cow!”. On the second step of the podium Markus Schopfer placed his Dual Chic SQVR a 5-years-old stallion by Mister Dual Pep and out of A Vintage Chic by A Sparkling Vintage. The total of the pair is a 215.5 (72 herd/70.5 rein/73 cow).

The Limited Open division is dominated by the Italian professional Alessandro Coppari with his CH Miss Remi Chex between the reins. The composite score of the pair is a 212.5 (70 herd/70.5 rein/72 cow). The same total of the Reserve Champion that was Andrea Sanfelici with his Ret Great N San (71.5 herd/70 rein/71 cow). But Alessandro has a cow work higher score and as the rules said he is the winner!

In the Non Pro and the Limited Non Pro divisions the winner is Alessandro Tugnoli with his Magic Enterprise between the reins. The total is a good 205 (68.5 herd/66.5 rein/70 cow). “I expected to win with my other horse and to know that I won with this special mare is so sweet! I can’t believe yet!” commented the Italian rider after the awards ceremony. Reserve Champion titles in both divisions went to Mattia Maurizi and his STO Peptos Lil Price only half point behind the winner (68 herd/68.5 rein/68 cow).

Talk Hungarian the Novice Amateur division of the Spring Stakes, Peter Kun and his CR Sassylittlelegend took the lead with a score of 200 (71 herd/67 rein/62 boxing). This winning pay the long trip from Hungary! On the second step of the podium we find Alessandro Tugnoli and Star Sky Diamond with a 198.5 (69 herd/68.5 rein/61 boxing).

The first stage of the ERCHA/NRCHA 2016 championship

Fabio Fossa and Cobra Tarissurprise, 5-years-old stallion owned by Paolo Stanghellini won the Novice Horse Open class with a 136.5 (66.5 rein/70 cow). Stefano Chiari and Rey Zan Zip Niky were Reserve Champions in this division with just half point behind the winner (68 rein/68 cow).

In the Two Rein Open, the fist NRCHA approved class, Markus Schopfer riding Spat Sailor Lena (Spat Olena x Heidy Sailor) owned by Jeannette Krahenbuhl won with 140.5 (69 rein/71.5 cow).

Always Markus Schopfer at the top of the Open Hackamore but this time with Dual Chic SQVR between the reins. Their total is a 144.5 (71.5 rein/73 cow).

The Open Bridle class was also the first step for the qualification of the Nations Cup, and the winner this time is Giovanni Campanaro with the great sorrel mare Smart Speedy (Smart Easy Deal x OT Boompeep) owned by Giovanni Lagaren. The total score is a 145 (71 rein/75 cow). On the second place of the Open but on the first of the Limited Open division we can find Claudio Salvia with his Frozen Peppys Lena, another great mare with the score of 142 (70 rein/72 cow). Reserve champion title in the Limited Open is for Stefano Chiari and Buenomax (Buenonic Chex x Pidgeon Poo) with a 135 (70 rein/65 cow).

The Youth Novice Riders winner is the young and scrappy Elena Ferrari with Cuttin Memphis between the reins, thanks to their total of 139.5 (70.5 rein/69 cow).

In the Novice Riders the winner is Andrea Ambrogiani with GF Shine For Me a great sorrel gelding that made happy is rider with a total of 142.5 (70.5 rein/72 boxing). Second place honors went to Peter Kun and CR Sassylittlelegend. In the regional division of this class the winner was She Is Smart And Sexy with Cleo Pugnetti in saddle, the pair marked a total of 139.5 (70.5 rein/69 boxing). Silvia Manfredi and ARC Dualin Surprise are Reserve Champions with a 138 (69 rein/69 boxing).

The Herdwork All Ages class is always populated. And this time the winner of the Open Division is Roberto Marchi with Carlotta Zigiotti’s Miss Snapper Hickory between the reins and the score of 71. Marco Sacchetti and The Big Spoon placed second only one point behind the winner. In the Non Pro the best rider was Peter Kun this time with Smart Blackbird and the score of 69. Again Mr. Peter Kun on the second step of the podium with CR Sassylittlelegend and a 67 score. In the regional Open division the winner is Gianluca Munarini and Little Too Sly owned by Willem Bembom with a great 74 score. Just one point behind we can find Sheri Mason and Silvio Pagliari’s Smarty Lil Cowboy. In the regional Non Pro division is again Silvio Pagliari and his Smartys Lil Cowboy with a 72. 68 the points of the second classify, we are talking about Mauro Rigoni and What A Dance.

Double title of Non Pro Limited and Non Pro Bridle Champion for Martina Grassi and Frozen Peppys Lena. On the first class their total score is a 139 (69 rein/70 cow) and in the second one is a 136 (70 rein/66 cow). Richard Forster placed his two horses: Genuine Ruf Dunit and Jacs Royal Boonsmal on the first step of the podium of the Non Pro Limited Bridle and Non Pro Bridle regional.

The appointment with the next show of the European Reined Cow Horse Association will be the Derby on May in Cremona. Stay tuned!
