NRCHA/ERCHA APPROVED COW HORSE SHOW AT THE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN COMPETITION – LYON
The European Reined Cow Horse Association concluded the show season 2011 in France, Lyon, during the International Horse Fair of Equità, held at the Eurexpo of Lyon, from the 26th to the 30th October 2011. The Show featured three working cow classes, approved by the Nrcha and Ercha, whose results were valid for the Ercha Championship 2011 ranking: the classes were judged by Filippo Masi and Eugenio Latorre.
The Working Cow competition started on Thursday 27th with the Hackamore Open class, sponsored by CM Quarter Horses, owned by Dominique Reynaud, with an added of 1500,00 euro
The class has four entries, and competitors had to perform pattern no. 5# of the Nrcha rulebook in the rein work. Markus Schopfer , from Italy, won this section, astride Remedy The Roan, a five year old red roan mare by Very Smart Remedy and out of Evita The Roan, owned by Dominique Reynaud. The pair scored 140,5 in the rein work, and 141 in the fence work, for a total composite of 281,5. The mare was 2010 ERCHA Futurity Open Reserve Champion, ERCHA Spring Stakes 2011 Open Finalist, 3rd place, 2011 Ercha Derby Open Reserve Champion, and 2011 Ercha Hackamore Classic Open Reserve Champion, with Markus Schopfer in the saddle.
French rider Nicolas Doucet placed second, with composite score 266,5 (134 – 132,5), riding his stallion Blue Foxy Boy, 2007 Blue roan stallion, by Blue Fox Hancock X Katys Fair Kid), while french rider Manoel Pourras placed third riding Monsieur Okie Boon (Double R Okie x April Fools Boon) to a 262 composite (133 – 129).
The show carried on with the Ercha/Nrcha Non Pro Bridle, sponsored by Equità, with an added of 1500,00 euro, held on Friday the 28th October; riders had to perform pattern no.7# of the Nrcha rule book. The class, with six entries, was dominated by italian non pro rider Alessio Fraboschi, riding Soul Snap, 2005 chestnut gelding, by Mr Snapple and out of Call Me Lenas Dun It: the pair scored 142 in the rein work and 135 in the fence work, winning with a composite score of 277. The horse was Irha Futurity Limited Open Finalist with Enzo Di Benedetto in the saddle, and was at his first cow horse show in his career. The Reserve Championship in this class wend to another Italian rider, Massimo Milano astride Chickory Chicory Doc, buckskin Gelding by Chic Please x Docs Sugar Badger: the pair scored 135,5 in the rein work and 137 in the fence work (composite score: 273,5). Swiss rider Eliane Gfeller placed third, riding his sorrel stallion Mr Colonel Smart, by Smartin Off X Jewelanna, with score 271 (135,5 – 135,5).
The working cow horse show concluded on Saturday 29th October, with the Ercha/Nrcha Open Bridle, sponsored by Equità, with an added of 2000,00 euro. The class featured 9 riders, and competitors had to perform pattern no. 8# of the Nrcha Rule Book. The Championship went to swiss trainer Christoph Seiler, who was riding Missys Magic Potion, a five year old palomino mare, by Chics Magic Potion X Shinin Missy, owned by Eliane Gfeller. The pair, that was Ercha Derby Limited Open Chapmpion 2011, and Ercha Hackamore Limited Open Champion and Open Reserve Champion, scored 141,5 in the rein work and a brilliant 146 in the fence work, for a total score of 287,5. Markus Schopfer took the Reserve honours riding Mh Sweet Boon, grey stallion by Bodeel Boonsmall x WRS Sweet Lil Jazz, owned by Dominique Reynaud. The pair, that was Ercha 2009 Open Futurity Champion, scored 136 in the rein work and a sensational 148 in the cow work, for a composite score of 284. French rider Manoel Pourras and Cancun Spat Olena placed third scoring 283,5 (138,5 – 145). The seven years old bay mare is by Spat Olena and out of Blacks Sally Doll.
