ERCHA/NRCHA Reined Cow Horse Futurity 2010: one of the highlights of the Americana fair!

The Ercha/Nrcha Futurity 2010 took place in Augsburg, Germany, during the gorgeous Americana 2010 fair, one of Europe’s premier western event: the fair started on September 5th, with the first go rounds for competitors., while the show was opened to visitors only on September th 8th.  Almost 400 horse-rider combinations came to Augsburg to compete, from Sweden, Denmark, Poland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, The Czech Republic and even U.S.A. and Canada. In the Ercha competitions, there were about 50 entries in the Working Cow classes plus 20 in the Cow Horse Futurity.

There were 18 entries in the Ercha Open Futurity, 12 of which riding also in the Limited Open Futurity class; moreover there were 5 riders in the Non Pro class, 4 of which running also for the Limited Non Pro Futurity title.

In the Open Futurity, only 10 riders gained their access to the finals, after a difficult go round, where hard cows created serious trouble also to some of the top riders.

The final in cow work of the ERCHA Reined Cow Horse Futurity was once more one of the highlights of the Americana evening shows.  In front of almost 4,500 visitors, Jimmy A. Flores and Hotroddersidquixote scored a brilliant 145 with an excellent cow work, which added to the previous runs got to a total score of 430 (140-145-145), and to the 2010 ERCHA Reined Cowhorse Futurity Open Champion title, for the American rider.

Jimmy A. Flores and Hotroddersidquixote, four years old palomino stallion, by Pablo Quixote out of Little Klassy Jewel, owned by Marita Larsson (Sweden), had already dominated the reined work and scored another 145 in the cow work final. It was Jimmy A. Flores’ first Americana and his first time in Germany. The Californian who has been showing cow horses since he was 12 years old and who won multiple national and international events, was impressed by the level of horses in Augsburg as well as the multitude of visitors. „It’s fun to ride here,“ he said. “So many spectators, and that unique atmosphere. It really pushed me! What I’ve seen here at Americana, might as well shown in the  States.” Jimmy A Flores did not have much time to train Hotroddersidquixote. The Swedish stallion is normally trained and shown by Joakim Pettersson.  „We could not really train him with cows, but he is very easy to handle and has lots of heart. Hotroddersidquixote is good in reined work as well as in cow work and can handle even difficult cattle.” Jimmy A Flores also claimed the Limited Open Futurity Champion title with Samuele Poli and CD Shinette placing second (421,5) and  Max Ruggeri with Dual Tappis Diamond placing third (416).
It was another fine success for multiple ERCHA Futurity Champion Markus Schöpfer, who managed to ride three horses into the final. The multiple cow horse, reining and cutting champion placed second astride Remedy The Roan, a 4-year-old mare (Very Smart Remedy x Evita Theroan) owned by Dominique Reynaud (France), gaining the title of 2010 Ercha Futurity Open Reserve champion, with a composite score of 426 (141-140-145).

Moreover, Markus placed third, with a total score of 425.5, With Shine Like A Babe, the 4-year-old bay mare owned by Quarter Dream (Italy), by Shining Spark n out of Summer Chex. The pair, who won the 2010 Ercha Prefuturity Open 4 year-old Championship, the 2010 Hackamore Classic Open Championship at the beginning of July, the 2009 Ercha/Nrcha Prefuturity Open 3 years old championship, last year, and was 2010 Ercha/Nrcha Spring Stakes Open Champion, scored 145 in the herd work, but had trouble in the rein work, where they scored only 137,5, but regained ground in the cow horse where they scored 143.

Markus also placed placed fifth with his third horse, the 3-year-old Appaloosa stallion MA Starfighter, owned by Marco Brunetti, with a total score of 420,5 (135-140-145). The beautiful stallion is by Starlight Elan and out of the multiple cow horse champion My Mom Won It All.
Samuele Poli and CD Shinette placed fourth in the Open ranking, and gained the Ercha Futurity Limited Open Reserve Champion title, with a composite score of 421,5. The pair, 2010 Ercha Open and Limited Open Derby Champion, and 2010 Spring Stakes Limited Open Champion n Open Reserve Champion, scored 141 in the herd work, 135,5 in the rein work, and 144 down the fence. The 4 year old palomino mare is by CD Olena x Sheza Shinette, and is owned by Simona Spronelli.

There where 5 competitors in the Ercha Non Pro Futurity final: with a total score of 404.5, the young italian rider Edoardo Bernardelli and his 4 year old mare ARC Lenas Shake Chic, gained the Championship, by scoring 135 in the herd work, 138 in the rein work, and 131 in the fence work. The bay mare is by Chic Please x Lenas Wags To Witches, and the pair was finalist  at the NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH, in the Non Pro and Ltd Non Pro classes. Edo Bernardelli, despite is young age, is an experience rider, especially in Team Penning competitions. The pair also won the Ercha Limited Non Pro Futurity Championship!

Alessandro Roasio and his bay gelding Acheron (Remilore x Pic A Whiz) became Ercha Non Pro Futurity Reserve Champion with a composite scores of 403,5 (134-135,5-134), while German rider Caroline Baudinger and her mare Okleos Holi Gold (by Holi Gold Zan x Bonds Okleo Luna) scored 385 (133-129-123), for the third place in the Non Pro ranking, and the Limited Non Pro Reserve Champion title at the 2010 Ercha Futurity. Both Alessandro Roasio and Caroline Baudinger trains with Markus Schoepfer.

The Americana Show also featured the 5th and last stage of the Ercha Championship 2010. Ercha Futurity Champion 2008, Phillip Martin Haug and A Smarty Pants won the Ercha/Nrcha Open Bridle by scoring 285 (142-143); Stefano Chiari and his chestnut mare Buenomax won both the Limited Open Bridle and the Non Pro Bridle, scoring 281,5 (136,5-145) and 278 (138,5-139,5) respectively. The German rider Achim Gotz and Signed by Chex won the Ercha Non Pro Limited with score 274,5, while Swiss rider Gabriela Kueng won the Ercha Novice Riders (score 275). In the end, Francesca Baron and Arc Turbine Ropers gained the champion title in the Two Reins Open class, scoring 287 (143-144), while Markus Schoepfer won the Hackamore Open riding Mh Sweet Boon, with score 288 (143-145).
