Adelmo Vannini wins 2012 Non Pro and Limited Non Pro Derby.
The European Reined Cow Horse Association Derby 2012, Nrcha approved, was held in Reggio Emilia, from the 15th to the 20th of may, during the western fair ‘Salone Del Cavallo Americano’, one of the largest and most famous western horse fair in Europe.
Definitely interesting was the prize money offered for this competition: there was an Added of $ 6.000,00 on the Open class, and of $ 2400,00 on the Non Pro Class. There were 17 entries, and 4 classes offered in the competition: 12 riders in the Open class, 7 in the Limited Open, 5 in the Non Pro, and 3 in the Limited Non Pro. The winners of the Limited Open and Limited Non Pro classes, reserved to those riders who were not in the ‘top five’ Open or Non Pro, and held class in class with the main ones, were determined by the composite score at the end of the 1st Go round, while the Derby Open and Derby Non Pro had a 1st preliminary Go to qualify for the finals.
This main aged event, reserved to 4 and 5 years old horses, to be shown two handed in a snafflebit or hackamore, was entirely judged by Terry Thomson from Usa and Eugenio Latorre from Italy.
The show started on Tuesday the 15th of may, with the Herd Work of the 1st Go round, followed by the Rein Work and Fence Work on Wednesday the 16th. Only 10 Open riders and 5 Non Pro qualified for the finals: multiple Ercha Champion Samuele Poli was leading the Derby Open ranking, with a composite score of 429, astride Starlight Flame, beautiful bay quarter horse mare, born in Italy, by Starlight Elan, owned by Federico Ghirardi.
The pair scored a consistent 143 in the herd work, 141 in the reining, and 145 in the fence work.
Ercha/Nrcha Derby Limited Open 2012
Giacomo Poli and Ima Snoop Olena, owned by Federico Ghirardi, took the Ercha Derby Limited Open Champion title, with a composite score of 425. The pair, who was Ercha/Nrcha Spring Stakes Open and Limited Open Champion 2012 in Verolanuova, scored 133 in the herd work, 141 in the reining, and performed a brilliant fence work, scoring 151. The bay 5 years old stallion is by Ima Snooper Too: Giacomo trained his since the very beginning, and was extremely proud of him.
Reserve champion, for only half point was Jorg Pasternak and Dirty Harry Jp (Smartest Magician x Peppy Smart Lena), from Germany. Their score was: 137 in the herd work, 142.5 in the rein work and 145 along the fence.
Third place for Patrick Sattler and Tivios Prize (Smokums Prize x Tivios Jac) composite of 419.5.
Ercha/Nrcha Derby Limited Non Pro 2012
The champion was Adelmo Vannini and A Time To Sparkle (A Chic In Time x Diamond Scarlett) a a beautiful roan mare from the States. Their score after 1° go are: 140, 139.5 e 143 in the fence work.
Elena Scipioni gained the Limited Non Pro Derby Reserve Championship astride his buckskin mare Sga Alena Please, by Chic Please. The pair scored 120 in the herd work, 139 in the rein work, and 138 along the fence, for a composite score of 397.
Third place for new entry Paolo Pencelli astride Sailor Little Chex (Frozen Sailor x Chex A Peso).
10 competitors qualified for the Ercha/Nrcha Open and Non Pro finals, held on Friday the 18th of may: Samuele Poli, who placed his three horses in the finals, Markus Schopfer, Patrick Sattler, who both placed 2 horses each in the finals and Michele Masi, Elena Scipioni, Paolo Pencelli, Giacomo Poli, Massimo Milano, Jorg Pasternak, Tomas Barta and Adelmo Vannini with 1 horse in the final.
Ercha/Nrcha Derby Open 2012
Before the cow work, Jorg Pasternak with Dirty Harry Jp were still leading, with a composite score of 287.5, followed by Giacomo Poli and Ima Snoop Olena. But it all comes down to the fence work, and Pasternak had bad luck in his last run: the pair got a very difficult cow.
Pasternak got a score of 131, and their composite dropped to a total 418.5. On the other hand, Giacomo Poli took advantage of the situation, and performed a great fence work, scoring a brilliant 154, top score of the show, for a total composite of 439.5! Giacomo was enthusiastic about his win.
Markus Schopfer is the 2012 Ercha /Nrcha Derby Open Reserve Champion, with a composite score of 428. Schopfer was riding Chics a Shining, a 4 years old sorrel mare, by Chic Please, owned by Johannes Tsagher, and scored 140 in the herd work, 143.5 in the rein work, and 144.5 in the cow work.
Samuele Poli, who had three horses in the Open final, placed 3rd astride This Cats Light, 4 sorrel stallion, by High Brown Cat, owned by Antonio Di Corso with a score of 427.5.
Ercha/Nrcha Derby Non Pro 2012
In the Non Pro class, Adelmo Vannini and A Time To Sparkle were leading after the 1st Go round, with a composite score of 422,5 (140-139.5-143). The pair, who won the 2012 Ercha Spring Stakes Non Pro and Limited non Pro, trains with Samuele Poli: A Time To Sparkle is a nice 4 years old roan mare, born in the States, by A Chic In Time and out of Diamond Scarlett. Adelmo Vannini also won the 2012 Ercha/Nrcha Derby Limited Non Pro class.
The pair scored a 140 in the herd work, a good rein work (139.5) and an excellent fence work, worth a score of 143, for a total score of 422.5.
Reserve champion honors went to Michele Masi and Haidaz (Smartaz x Hollywood Haida). The pair scored a 136 in the herd work, a very good rein work of 143.5 and 130 in the cow work.
Third place for Massimo Milano and his Hollywood Even Flow (Mr Tori Kid x Hollywood Lady Two) and a composite of 403.5.
The next Ercha Show will be the Ercha/Nrcha Hackamore Classic, which will be held in Mestrino, at the beautiful facility if Ca’ Masiero Ranch (PD), Italy, on June, 23rd – 24th 2012.
