ERCHA/NRCHA SPRING STAKES 2012

The European Reined Cow Horse Association started its show season with the ERCHA Spring Stakes. As usual, this show was held in Verolanuova, Brescia, Italy, in the beautiful facility of Centro Ippico San Giorgio, and was judged by Tony Cancellieri. It was an exciting weekend of cow horse competition. The show was held April 7th-8th, and also featured the first step of the 2011 ERCHA Championships with a full slate of ancillary classes in addition to the limited aged event.
Two years ago, the Spring Stakes was a two go-round event; this year the Champions were decided after a single go.
Giacomo Poli riding Ima Snoop Olena, owned by himself, won the Open and the Limited Open Championship with a composite score of 218. The pair started with a 72 in the herd work, followed by a 71 in the rein work, and ended with a beautyfull 75 in the cow work. Ima Snoop Olena is a 5-year-old bay stallion, by Ima Snooper Too and out of Blue Fox Baby. He born in Italy and has been in training with Poli ever since. The pair debuted in a European show two years ago in the 2010 Prefuturity, where they placed third in the Open 3 years old. They went on to win other important titles as well. They were already Reserve Champion in the Spring Stakes 2011 with a composite of 212.5. That score also earned them the Limited Open Championship!.
The Spring Stakes Reserve Championship title went to Markus Schopfer, riding Chics a Shining, owned by Johan Tsagher. The pair scored a 72 in the herd work, a 72 in the rein work, and ended with a 73 down the fence for a composite of 217. Third place for Samuele Poli (the old brother of Giacomo Poli) riding This Cats Light owned by Antonio Di Corso with a total score of 215.
In the Limited Open division, Reserve honors went to Christoph Seiler, riding Haidas Stteady Doc, palomino stallion, owned by Seiler Quarter Horses. The pair scored a composite of 203.5 (66-70.5-67).
Adelmo Vannini took the Non Pro and Limited Non Pro Championship riding his horse A Time To Sparkle. The pair scored 71 in the herd work, 68,5 in the rein work, and 62 down the fence, for a total composite of 201,5.
Italian rider Elena Scipioni won Reserve honors in both the Non Pro and Limited Non Pro classes, riding SGA Alena Please, buckskin mare, by Chic Please. The two scored a 66 in the herd work, a 0 in the rein work, and a 68 in the cow work, for a composite of 134.
The next major event for the European Reined Cow Horse Association will be the 2012 ERCHA Derby that will be held in Reggio Emilia, during the International Western Fair Salone Del Cavallo Americano.
